Introduction
Universities, as educational and research institutions, must continually contribute to the advancement and development of their societies. The development and application of new technologies have consistently been among the strategic priorities of governments worldwide. With the rapid, remarkable, and increasingly competitive technological progress in recent decades, the need for industry to engage with universities has become more prominent than ever. At the same time, higher education institutions have shifted from teaching-oriented universities (first generation) and research-oriented universities (second generation) toward entrepreneurial universities (third generation). An entrepreneurial university is not separate from industry; alongside education and fundamental research aimed at expanding human knowledge, it prioritizes entrepreneurship and the commercialization of knowledge.
Accordingly, the establishment of a systematic framework that ensures a two-way connection between university activities and industrial needs is essential. The Office of Relations with Industry and Entrepreneurship at Kermanshah University of Technology has served as this connecting link since the early years of the University’s establishment. The primary mission of this center is to create an enabling platform for university researchers (faculty members and students) to engage in collaborative activities with industries and research institutions. The main outcomes of this collaboration include training skilled and entrepreneurial human resources, conducting applied and demand-driven research, commercializing knowledge, and developing and implementing technologies required by industry.
