A big step towards linking university and industry; Kermanshah University of Technology and Western Oil and Gas Exploitation Company signed a research cooperation agreement
According to the Public Relations Department of Kermanshah University of Technology, in order to develop scientific, research and industrial cooperation and with the aim of utilizing the university’s capacities to meet the needs of the industry, a research cooperation agreement was signed between Kermanshah University of Technology and the Western Oil and Gas Exploitation Company on Tuesday, July 20, in the presence of Dr. Hamed Rashidi, the president of the university, Eng. Mahmoud Nasiri, the CEO of the Western Oil and Gas Exploitation Company, and a group of vice presidents, managers and experts from the two companies in the meeting hall of the university’s presidency.
This agreement was concluded with the aim of examining the mutual effect of chemicals used in desalination units, including corrosion inhibitors, sediment inhibitors, bactericides, oxygen scavengers and other additives, as well as evaluating the effect of simultaneous use of these materials on their performance and efficiency.
At the beginning of this meeting, Dr. Hamed Rashidi, referring to the scientific and research capacities of Kermanshah University of Technology, stated: This university, with its expert faculty members, well-equipped laboratories, and specialized fields including chemical engineering and safety engineering, is fully prepared to provide scientific and research services to the province’s industries.
Emphasizing the necessity of strengthening the relationship between the university and industry, he pointed to the capacities of the university’s Industrial Development Center and added: Developing joint cooperation, holding specialized training courses, the presence of industry experts at the university, and using the university’s scientific power can play an effective role in meeting the technical needs and enhancing the capabilities of the province’s industries. Also, providing internship opportunities for students will further pave the way for training specialized human resources that are in line with the needs of the industry.
Next, Eng. Mahmoud Nasiri, CEO of Gharb Oil and Gas Exploitation Company, introduced the company’s activities, mission area, oil fields, and refineries, and presented a report on research collaborations with universities in the country.
Emphasizing the role of universities in training specialized human resources, he considered achieving self-sufficiency in the oil industry to be the result of the knowledge and expertise of academic staff and stated: The progress and independence of developed countries is due to the continuous and effective relationship between universities and industry.
The CEO of the Western Oil and Gas Exploitation Company also suggested that some of the company’s specialized meetings be held at the Kermanshah University of Technology to provide the university with a better understanding of the real needs of the industry and to define joint projects.
In the continuation of this meeting, the managers of the two groups presented their views, suggestions, and solutions on expanding scientific, research, and industrial cooperation.
In the end, the research cooperation agreement between Kermanshah University of Technology and the Western Oil and Gas Exploitation Company was signed by Dr. Hamed Rashidi, the president of the university, and Eng. Mahmoud Nasiri, the CEO of the Western Oil and Gas Exploitation Company; an agreement that can pave the way for technology development, solving industry issues, and strengthening effective relations between universities and industry in Kermanshah province.
