Department of Physics
Engineering Physics is an interdisciplinary field between atomic and molecular physics and other engineering fields. Indeed, Engineering Physics studies and examines the advanced topics of applied physics as well as the methods of its use in industry. The purpose of this field is to train specialists who, in addition to familiarity with physics and advanced topics in this science, become familiar with the applications of physics and acquire the ability to engineer and present industrial designs in the domain of new physics. At the undergraduate level, Engineering Physics has three subdisciplines: Solid State Engineering, Plasma, Optics and Laser. This field is offered in the Department of Engineering Physics at Kermanshah University of Technology with Optics and Laser Engineering.
Optics and Laser Engineering is one of the most widely used fields in the world, which deals with the evaluation, study, feasibility, construction and testing of optical, electro-optical, optoelectronic and laser devices. The word laser, which is also read and written as laser in Persian, is the abbreviation of the scientific term “Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation,” which means the “amplification of light by induced emission of radiation.”
In the field of optics, the design, construction and evaluation of light devices that have the ability to control and use light in various applications are on the agenda of specialists in this field.

Job Prospects
In the most precise measuring and control devices, physical and sensory methods are used. The design and construction of these systems as well as the parts used in electronics and computers fall in the domain of modern physics. Graduates of this field can be employed in electronic industries, optical, laser, computer components industries, public and private institutions such as the Ministry of Energy, Telecommunications, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Iran Electronics Industries and automotive industries. In addition, the construction and evaluation of optical fibers used in telecommunications, expertise in the different applications of plasma and laser in industry and medicine, design and construction of optical design devices, design and construction of different lamps, electric-design charge and construction of magnets necessary in electromagnetic systems and automatic keys as well as the preparation and evaluation of nano properties fall within the domain of this field.
