Railway Engineering
Department of Railway Engineering
Railway transport is experiencing a worldwide renaissance. It has substantial economic benefits, energy efficiency, and environmental and safety benefits. Rail is widely viewed as a vital component of the integrated transportation system for sustainable societies of the future.
Kermanshah as the western province of Iran, due to its the population concentration, oil and refinery centers, and being the border of Iraq and Turkey, urban and intercity rail projects have been put into operation or under construction. Therefore there is substantial demand for engineers with integrated knowledge of railway subsystems (infrastructure, vehicles and traffic control) who understand how to maximize performance of the whole system. Kermanshah University of Science and Technology has the mission as the only western university in the country to train the specialist in this field.
The department of Railway Engineering officially started its activities in 2015 and it is now offering its courses to about 145 postgraduate students.
