Department of Computer Science

Computer Science is the bridge between computer and mathematics, and its most important goal is to achieve the best available algorithms (problem-solving methods) using the least amount of time, with the least error and the most accuracy. In other words, the goal of this field of study is to train computer experts who solve the problems raised in computer science or mathematics with a more mathematical and logical view. This discipline has 4 subdisciplines at the undergraduate level: Scientific Computing, Theory of Algorithms, Hardware as well as Information Systems; the courses of Scientific Computing are in the domains of linear and nonlinear programming, numerical analysis and software in mathematics. The difference between this field of study and Computer Engineering – Software is that Computer Science, unlike Computer Engineering, lacks laboratory and workshop courses and has a more theoretical research aspect.

Job Prospects

The individual who is responsible for choosing solutions to problems and solving them is actually the manager and coordinator. In large industrial centers, research centers, organizations, companies and ministries, they can assume important duties or, by participating in important projects, play a valuable role especially in software – computation, informatics, information, communication and planning. In particular, they can create job opportunities in Iran and generate income for the country, especially through the production and sale of scientific, educational, research and computational software.
