Department of Mechanical Engineering

A mechanical engineer learns the basic principles of force, energy, motion as well as heat, and designs and builds mechanical systems, devices and thermal processes with his/her specialized knowledge. A mechanical engineer produces a wide range of devices, products and processes: from the mold used in making pins to modeling the movement of satellites in the space outside the atmosphere, motors and control systems of automobiles and airplanes, electric power plants, medical devices, various components and parts etc.

Job Prospects

A mechanical engineer has the ability to work in most industrial fields, including designing and constructing machines and their parts, designing and constructing mechanical equipment for power plants, designing and constructing water transfer and treatment equipment and systems, mechanical and control systems of refineries and chemical factories, designing and constructing heating and cooling systems of buildings, constructing land, sea and air transportation systems, constructing defense equipment, and constructing robots and production systems. Meanwhile, a mechanical engineer can work as an expert and technical consultant in banks, investment and insurance companies, inspection and monitoring companies for international affairs.
