Introduction to the Security Office

Definition of Security

The word Herasat literally means guarding and protection. Administratively, it refers to an entity within an organization responsible for safeguarding the health of all its components against various deviations and threats. The presence of Security Office in organizational processes serves two main objectives:

  • Strategic and overarching goal: To maintain and enhance the protective and security capacity of the organization to achieve its objectives.
  • Operational goals: To assist managers through effective consultation, timely notification, supervision, and implementing protective measures to ensure comprehensive safety and security of organizational resources.

The Security Office at Kermanshah University of Technology works to uphold the principles and values of the Islamic Republic, promote a culture of service and accountability, establish meritocracy, comply with laws and regulations, collaborate with managers to achieve organizational goals, identify opportunities and threats, prevent potential risks, and ultimately implement effective, decision-supportive, and responsive security measures.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving objectives, policies, and guidelines from senior management, planning, organizing, coordinating, communicating plans, and supervising their implementation
  • Implementing bylaws and instructions for personnel protection, physical security, document security, and IT security at the University
  • Providing consultation and timely notification regarding the status of the organization to senior management and relevant authorities
  • Ensuring security on campus while emphasizing Islamic values and compliance with laws
  • Fostering an environment of trust, respect, and cooperation among officials, staff, and the university community
  • Protecting and safeguarding the University against potential threats and damages
  • Receiving, recording, and preserving the University’s confidential correspondence and documents
  • Communicating security directives to administrative units
  • Taking necessary actions in the event of accidents and incidents and promptly notifying officials
  • Preparing and organizing security forms
  • Receiving and recording classified documents as well as distributing and preserving them in a centralized manner
  • Developing crisis prevention methods, protecting the University campus, and interacting with relevant external organizations
  • Collecting and analyzing political, cultural, economic, and social information to provide advice to University officials for taking necessary measures
  • Performing other duties assigned within the framework of regulations and job descriptions

Message from the Head of the Security Office and Advisor to the University President

Serving University members (faculty, staff, and students—the noblest and most valuable social capital) and facilitating their growth and academic excellence is a divine blessing. The Security Office, through performance assessment and corrective actions, aims to create a safe and calm environment on campus. Its main mission is to utilize human and spiritual resources to achieve effective, decision-supportive, and responsive security. In line with this mission, the Security staff, with careful planning, smart organization, proactive actions, and collaboration with relevant authorities, aspire to mark a new chapter in the history of University Security.

Services

  1. Issuance of ID Cards

An identification card is issued to indicate an individual’s identity details, and respected members can visit the Security Office to obtain their ID card in accordance with the “ID Card Issuance Guidelines.”

  1. Issuance of Vehicle Access Permits

Since the entry of any vehicle without a permit sticker to the university is prohibited, respected applicants who require a vehicle access permit can apply in accordance with the “Vehicle Access Permit Issuance Guidelines.”

  1. International Travel

Respected faculty members and staff who intend to travel abroad must, at least 15 days prior to their trip, visit the university website, obtain the “Exit from the Country Declaration” form, complete it, and submit it through the administrative automation system. Similarly, students planning to travel abroad must visit the Security Office in person to complete the relevant forms.

  1. Video Surveillance Center

Video surveillance, or event monitoring through the viewing and recording of images by closed-circuit cameras—also known as monitoring—has become one of the most important components for maintaining security and tranquility in society. It allows for controlling the surroundings of buildings, preventing potential accidents and crimes, supervising individuals’ behavior, increasing efficiency through cost savings and reduced manpower, and ultimately enhancing accuracy and speed in oversight. The University’s Video Surveillance Center is one such facility utilizing this technology, assisting security personnel in creating a safe and calm environment. This center is specifically responsible for 24-hour video monitoring of the University and maintaining radio communication with the Security staff.

  1. Emergency Communication Center

When to contact this center:

  • If there is a need for the presence of traffic police, fire department, or emergency services on campus, after contacting the relevant centers, please immediately inform the University’s Emergency Communication Center to facilitate and expedite the arrival of emergency, fire, and traffic personnel at the scene
  • When witnessing any clear violations, such as fights, disturbing order, causing damage, harassment, unethical behavior, and similar incidents
  • In the event of theft
